Karin paces Berlin to the minute, and moves within 26 marathons of an Australian first

Karin Thorburn has completed her 574th marathon, running as an official 4:30 pacer at the Berlin Marathon and crossing the line in 4 hours 29 minutes. Right on the mark for the runners relying on her.

It was Karin's second time running Berlin and her 13th Abbott World Marathon Major, and marathon number 43 for the year.

“With the target of sub 4 hours 30 at this massive event, I was feeling the pressure, but being surrounded by great like minded individuals that felt more like a United Nations convention than running a Major marathon like Berlin, I totally enjoyed the experience,” said Karin.

The result leaves Karin just 26 marathons from a huge milestone. She was already the first Australian to run 500 official marathons. She's now on track to become the first Australian to complete 600, a milestone she'll reach in 2027, the year she turns 60.
